Former League President, CU Board Member Honored

Former League President, CU Board Member Honored

Since the 1950s, Ted Desveaux has been involved in the Maine CU System.  From helping to charter a number of credit unions and serving on the Maine CU League's Board to becoming the first full-time employee hired by Alexander Ferguson and, finally, serving as President of the Maine CU League from 1970-1992.  In 2004, Desveaux, along with fellow Casco FCU Board Member, John Zerillo collaborated to write a definitive book on the Maine CU System called People Helping People: A History of the Maine CU Movement.  Upon retiring, Desveaux remained active in the Maine CU System, becoming the first person to serve simultaneously on two credit union boards at the same time.

While Desveaux retired from Coast Line CU a couple of years ago, he continued to serve on the Board of Casco FCU.  This past July, after more than six decades of involvement in the Maine CU System, Desveaux retired from the Casco FCU Board.  At his final Board Meeting as a Board Member, Casco FCU Chair John Zerillo presented Ted with 'The Lifetime Achievement Award'.

"Ted's service, dedication and commitment to all Maine credit unions is remarkable.  He is a truly an example of the credit union philosophy of 'people helping people'.  On behalf of the League, I extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation for his years of service," remarked Todd Mason, President of the Maine CU League.
