- Pitre was a Veteran of the second world war and served as a wireless operator with the Royal Corps of Signals until November 1946.
He is a member of The Canadian Legion Branch #6. In 1982 after being employed by Uniroyal limited for thirty three years, he elected early retirement to pursue his studies leading to his ordination to the Permanent Diaconate. His studies were done at CIC under Father Bernard Sloan who was a professor for six and a half years at the "Grand seminary de St. Sulpice in Montreal. He also did some studies during the summers at the Atlantic School of Theology and at The University of Cape Breton. He was the first permanent Deacon to be ordained for the Archdiocese of Moncton by Archbishop Donat Chaisson on June 30, 1987. He served as Associate Pastor at St. Augustines Parish from 1987 to 1993. Since then he has been ministering at St. Bernard's Parish. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and a Charter member of The Moncton Seniors Amateur Radio Club.
