- Hilda Bijeau 1924-2008
À l’Hôpital Général de Grand-Sault, le jeudi 24 avril 2008, à l’âge de 83 ans, est décédée Hilda Ruest, épouse de feu Aurèle Bijeau, domiciliée à Saint-Léonard.
Née à Grand-Sault en 1924, elle était fille de feu Eddie Ruest et de feu Thérèse Bellefleur.
Mme Bijeau était membre des Filles d’Isabelle de Saint-Léonard. De 1967 à 1970, elle a fait de sa demeure un foyer d’accueil pour plusieurs enfants: Angela, Danny, Diane, Lisa et Gloria. Elle était la mère de tout le monde. De 1970 à 1982, elle appartenait le magasin “Hilda’s Dress Shop” de Saint-Léonard.
Elle laisse dans le deuil trois filles, Gabrielle Bijeau d’Ottawa, Ginette (Alan) Irving de Presque Isle, Maine et Bradenton, Floride et Thérèse Jackie (Larry) Sanfacon de la Caroline du Sud; trois fils, Gérald Bijeau (amie Sylvia Mosley) et Mike (Arlene) Bijeau de la Caroline du Sud et Alfred (Marthe Bonsens) Bijeau d’Edmundston, une soeur, Dorothy Michaud de Grand-Sault, 17 petits-enfants, 27 arrière-petits-enfants ainsi que quatre autres “en route”.
Elle laisse aussi deux ex-belles-filles, Edwina Thibodeau Bijeau et Jeannine Couillard, cinq belles-soeurs, Jacqueline Bijeau, Lucienne Bourgoin, Adelaide, Féléxine et Azilda Bijeau et un beau-frère, Romeo Huppee, de nombreux neveux et nièces.
Elle a été précédée par deux frères, Aurèle et Thomas et deux soeurs, Gertrude et Marianne. Mme Bijeau avait une grande foi; elle priait souvent la Bonne Sainte-Anne, Sainte-Thérèse, le Sacré-Coeur et Notre-Dame-du-Cap. Ses passe-temps favoris étaient de jouer aux cartes, aller au Bingo et magaziner avec ses amies.
La dépouille mortelle est exposée au salon Guy O’Regan, 83, rue Saint-Antoine à Saint-Léonard. Ses funérailles auront lieu le lundi 28 avril à 11h en l’église de Saint-Léonard, et l’inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Les heures des visites seront le dimanche de 19h à 21h et le lundi de 9h30 jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles. Les Filles d'Isabelle réciteront les prières dimanche soir à 19h30. Pour ceux qui le désirent, on demande de faire un don à la Fondation des amis de l’Hôpital Général de Grand-Sault.
At the Grand Falls General Hospital, April 24, 2008, Mrs. Hilda Bijeau of Saint-Leonard passed away at the age of 83 years. She was the wife of the late Aurele Bijeau. Born at Grand Falls in 1924, she was a daughter of the late Eddie and Therese (Bellefleur) Ruest.
Mrs. Bijeau was a member of the Saint-Leonard Daughters of Isabella. From 1967 to 1970, she was the foster mother of several children: Angela, Danny, Diane, Lisa and Gloria. She was considered the mother of all children. From 1970 to 1982, she owned and operated “Hilda’s Dress Shop”, a ladies’ clothing store in downtown Saint-Leonard.
She is survived by three daughters, Gabrielle Bijeau of Ottawa, Ginette (Alan) Irving of Presque Isle, Maine and Bradenton, Florida and Therese Jackie (Larry) Sanfacon of South Carolina; three sons, Gerald Bijeau (and friend Sylvia Mosley) and Mike (Arlene) Bijeau of South Carolina and Alfred (Marthe Bonsens) Bijeau of Edmundston, one sister, Dorothy Michaud of Grand Falls, 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren as well as four more on the way. She is also survived by two former daughters-in-law, Edwina Thibodeau Bijeau and Jeannine Couillard, five sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Bijeau, Lucienne Bourgoin, Adelaide, Felixine and Azilda Bijeau and a brother-in-law, Romeo Huppee, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Aurele and Thomas and two sisters, Gertrude and Marianne.
Mrs. Bijeau had a great faith; she often prayed the Good Saint Anne, St. Theresa, the Sacred Heart and Our Lady of the Cape. She enjoyed playing cards, going to Bingo and shopping with her friends.
Her funeral was held Monday, April 28th at 11 a.m. from the Saint-Leonard Roman Catholic Church, with Father Roland Poitras officiating. The pallbearers were Paul Sanfacon, Nicholas Parent, Alan Irving, Nicole Kluckhaln, Monica Apgar and Nathalie Bijeau. Interment was in the Saint-Leonard Cemetery. An honour guard was formed by the Daughters of Isabella.
