- C'est un grand handicap de comprendre St. Cast en ce que nous savons si peu à propos de la femme qu'il a épousée selon la coutume abénaquise.
L'union a été régularisée par le rituel chrétien. Dont un certificat existe daté 30 septembre 1684, où l'évêque de Québec authorise le père Jacques Bigot, missionnaire Jesuite, chez les Abénaquis, d'épousé le baron de Saint-Castin à Mathilde, fille de Madockawando.
La cérémonie eu lieu dans la petite chapelle catholique sur l'île de Panawanske , maintenant appelée l'île indienne, à
Vieille, ville sur le Penobscot, Maine.
En 1701, juste avant son retour en Béarn, le baron de Saint-Castin s'était attribué dix enfants légitimes. Toutefois dans un document ayant appartenu à Bernard-Anselme (son fils), le père Gaulin, missionnaire à Pentagoët, certifiait que le baron de Saint-Castin avait légitimement épousé devant l'église Melchilde de Nisocquoué, ainsi qu'il paraissait dans les registres de la mission de Pentagoët dont il eut 4 garçons: Anselme, Joseph-Marie, François-Xavier et Pierre ainsi que 4 filles: Cécile, Anastasie, Ursule et Brigitte comme il paraissait dans leurs baptistères (document daté du 25 novembre 1706)
- Saint-Castin seems to have married at least one and possibly two different daughters of Penobscot chief, Madokawando, as described by the French Acadian Governor "de Menneval", on December 1, 1687:
"...being in the forest with them, since 1665, and having with him two daughters of the chief of these [savages/Indians] by whom he has many children." Menneval suggests polygamy and some recent historians have upheld this view, at least insofar as Saint-Castin having married more than one daughter of Madockawando.
In less than a decade after 1687 when he was still described as a polygamist;
Baron de Lahonton makes a point of countering rumours that Saint-Castin was a polygamist: “He has several daughters, who are, all of them, married very handsomely to Frenchmen… He has never changed his wife, by which means he meant to give the savages to understand, that God does not love inconstant folks”

- A possible answer to where he died and was buried.
According to oral tradition; the Baron and his Daughter Marie Theresa were in Port Royal at the time of the 1707 Attack; and were killed there.
In 1899-1900 Frank Hamilton Cushing, a famous anthropologist from the Smithsonian, while conducting a dig on Campbell Island, just off Deer Island Maine, uncovered a French skeleton in armor. The weapons and items were identical to those of a French officer of the Carignan-Salières regiment. A halberd, sword, blunderbuss and other weapons were recovered. A tomahawk was found with a Maltese cross etched on it. The remains were found buried next to a Native American woman. They were repatriated to the Penobscot Nation; because it is Claimed and Accepted that these are the remains of the Baron and his Daughter.
Supporting this claim; is the fact that the Symbol on the Tomahawk is the Royal Seal of Madockawando; as well as there being no other Personage that could be identified and that no alternative Personage is Offered.
Except for Oral Tradition; there is no *Evidence or *Proof" that this is true or not.

- Anastasie de St.Castin et Thérèse de St.Cantin ce sont mariée le même jour.
Au Mariage la mère d'Anastasie est appelée Mathilde, le même jour au mariage de Thérèse sa mère est appeler Dame Marie Pidiwammiskwa.
Ceci suggère que son père Jean Vincent St. Castin serait marier a deux fois. Il semblerait que la mère de Thérèse aurait été la sœur de Mathilde.
