Lionel A. Fortier of Park Street passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at St. Vincent De Paul Nursing Home in Berlin where he had resided for the past month. He was 85 years old.
Born August 16, 1925 in Berlin, NH, he was the son of Joseph and Lea (Lahousse) Fortier.
A lifelong resident of Berlin, he attended St. Joseph School.
On January 5, 1948, he married Simonne M. Bugeau at St. Anne Church in Berlin.
Retiring in 1987, he was employed as a laborer with the City of Berlin Public Works Department for 22 years.
He was a communicant of St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish.
Lionel enjoyed gardening, blueberry picking, and playing cards. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Simonne M. Fortier of Berlin
A daughter Elaine Tremblay and her husband Pete of Berlin
Three sons: Maurice Fortier and his wife Diane of Manchester, NH Normand Fortier and his wife Jackie of Harrodsburg, KY Michael Fortier and his wife Donna of Chelmsford, MA
Three Grandchildren: Kristi Mercier of Berlin, Wesley Fortier and Emily Fortier both of Chelmsford, MA
Three Great-Grandchildren: Samantha, Jacob, and Ryan Mercier all of Berlin.
A brother George Fortier and his wife Roberta of Berlin. Several nieces and nephews.
His brother Leo and sisters Pauline Tardiff, Irene Pouliot, and Simonne Dupuis all predeceased him.
