Evelyn Santerre, 88
Evelyn Farmer Santerre, 88, of Saranac Lake died Tuesday, October 14, 1997 at the Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.
Born Nov. 8, 1908 in St. Regis Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Arthur and Libby (Collins) Farmer.
She was married to Edward G. Santerre at St. Alphonsus Church. Mr. Santerre predeceased her in 1971.
A resident of Tupper Lake for 25 years, Mrs. Santerre moved to Saranac Lake in 1960. She was employed as a waitress at the Brookside Hotel and the Charcoal Pit until her retirement in 1976.
She was a member of St. Anne's Society of St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake, RSVP, and the Saranac Lake Adult Center where she was named the 1986 Citizen of the Year.
Mrs. Santerre is survived by two sons, Richard J. Santerre of Hartford, CT, and Roger E. Santerre of Bloomingdale; one daughter, JoAnne Brunette of Lady Lake, FL; two sisters, Alice Chapman of Saranac Lake and Jean Darah of Bloomingdale; one brother, Ralph Farmer of St. Regis Falls; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Frances Cimbrec, Ethel Morabito and Norma Sexton and two brothers, Royal Farmer and Carlton Farmer.
Calling hours were held Friday, Nov. 17 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake with burial following in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake.
Those wishing to remember Mrs. Santerre through memorial donations are asked to consider the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Dept. in care of the funeral home.
