- William Shannon McKowen was a retired merchant and cattleman.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lydia deBretton McKowen of Jackson; three sons, W.S. McKowen, Jr. of Jackson, J. Keller McKowen of Jackson, and Dolph McKowen of Zachary; a daughter, Miss Henrietta McKowen of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Mrs. George Woodside of Clinton, Miss Mabel McKowen of Clinton, and Mrs. A.C. Mills, Sr. of Zachary; a brother, A.C. McKowen, Sr., of Jackson; six grandsons; a granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late T.C. McKowen and Margaret Ann Germany; and was brother of the late Dr. John McKowen, Dr. Henry McKowen and T.C. McKowen, and Mrs. T.L. Mills, Sr.
He was a director emeritus of the Bank of Zachary, and was a member of the jury commission of East Feliciana Parish for 42 years, and also was an elder of the Plains Presbyterian Church.
