"Since he was a promounced Royalist, in 1782 or 1783 after having been imprisoned and having his property confiscated he was told to take his family and leave the country. He travelled with his family in a wagon straight north past Lake Champlain and up to Montreal. In the spring of 1784 he and his family were able to join the first ship that was travelling to the Bay of Quinte area. On June 16, 1784 they landed at Adolphustown. Also in that ship was Peter Valleau, his wife and children." per email from Paul Godfrey, Dec. 12, 2004.2
