- Alvin Vignes Obituary
VIGNES Alvin Joseph Vignes, MD, born February 25, 1921. Dr. Vignes joyfully met his heavenly father on Friday, July 13, 2007 at 6:08 am at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston , Texas, with his wife and daughter at his bedside.
A native of New Orleans, LA, he resided in Vacherie, Louisiana for years, practicing medicine with Dr. Roland Waguespack, until ultimately finding home in Liberty, Texas.
He continued to practice medicine and witnessing to friends until last year. Dr. Vignes was extremely proud of his profession, and used it as a tool to spread his faith and love of God. A graduate of LSU Medical School in 1949, he eventually obtained three doctorate degrees.
Dr. Vignes was a First Lieutenant in World War II, and as per his wishes, will be laid to rest in Port Hudson Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements are at Allison Funeral Home in Liberty, TX, with visitation Tuesday, July 17, 2007 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Services are scheduled for 10:00am on Wednesday, July 18, 2007. Burial arrangements are pending.
Dr. Vignes is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 27 years, Alda Hinojosa Vignes of Liberty, his children and their spouses Ann and Russell Kerner of Mandeville, LA, Jane Gibson of East Sussex, England, Amy Eschette of Baton Rouge, John and Deana Vignes of Baton Rouge, and Mark Vignes and Kelee Todora of Denham Springs.
He is also survived by his stepchildren and their spouses Andrea Murray and Jan Smalley, Patrick and Ann Wilkes, Robert and Shellie Wilkes, Linda and Al Ferriulo.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Heather and her husband James Thode and their children Kade and Landen, Troy Eschette, Jonathan Vignes and Shelby Vignes, Maeghen Vignes, and Jane's children Sean, Michael, Christopher, Jason, and Emma, Jason Wilkes and his wife Ayako and their son Kai, Brian Wilkes and his wife Yasuko, April Wilkes, Wesley Wilkes, and Daniel Wilkes, Dane Wilkes, Kelsey Wilkes, Willie Wilkes and his wife Ruby and their son Jacob, Trent Beaumont and Krystal Stiles.
He is proceeded in heaven by his parents, Sydney and Daisy Vignes, his siblings Matilda Otis and Frank Vignes and an infant brother, Marie Louise Bujol Vignes, mother of his children, and grandson, Taylor Noel Todora. Because of his wishes for a military burial, please no flowers.
