Ethel Bujold, 79, of Devlin, Ont., passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born Nov. 17, 1932 in Devlin to the late Frederick and Florence Greensides.
On Aug. 3, 1955, Ethel was united in marriage to the love of her life, Alfred “Fritz” Bujold. Her only job since her youth was working at Greenside’s Grocery Store, and taking ownership of the store from her father in 1972 with her lifetime husband, Fritz.
She was a faithful member of Guthrie United Church, where she played the organ for the past 67 years since she was 12 years old.
Ethel loved music of all sorts, dancing and socializing with everyone. She also enjoyed the company of her “Birthday Club” friends and always remembered special occasions.
She liked attending many concerts in the area, and also teas at many of the local churches. In the summers, she went to baseball games at the Devlin Ball Park and socialized with the younger people.
Ethel also enjoyed family get-togethers, which never began until grandma arrived. Many lifetime memories were made at their cabin on Lake Despair.
Her generosity and selflessness over the years was endless, and Ethel will be dearly missed by her family, church community, and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred “Fritz” Bujold in 1998; and three brothers-in-law, Jim Carmody, Thomas Forster, and Clarence “Buck” Bujold.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Pam Bujold of Devlin, Ont.; grandchildren, Joe Carlson (Tina), Bobbi-Jo Morken (Dean), Jason Carlson (Krissy), Jamie Carlson (Mandy), Julia Carlson (Dan), and Leona Carlson; and great-grandchildren, Jade, Connor, Jordon, Maggie, Blake, Courtney, Eric, Megan, Molly, Chelsea, Mackenzie, Jace, Danica, Maliyah, and Natalie.
Also surviving are her sisters, Freeda Carmody of Devlin, Ont. and Audrey Forster of Fort Frances, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Gertie Bujold of Fort Frances, Ont., Darlene Hughes, and Joan Van Dam; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Guthrie United Church in Devlin. Rev. Frances Flook will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be Joe Carlson, Jason Carlson, James Carlson, Dan Jourdain, Dean Morken, and Murray Carlson.
The honourary pallbearers will be Ethel’s family and friends.
