Événement 1883  Michigan USA Trouver tous les individus avec un évènement dans ce lieu
n the year 1883, Mary Jane and Charles Bujold and their children went to Michigan, as did William and Mary Doyle and Lucy and George Doucet. William Doyle and Anastasia Joncas also went to the U.S. along with their married children. Only James Rufus Doyle and his family remained behind on the family farm in Jacquet River.
    Notes
    • Charles Edward Bujold married Mary Jane Doyle, daughter of William Doyle and Anastasia Joncas, on 30 Jun 1873 in Dalhousie, Restigouche Co., New Brunswick, Canada. They were the parents of 4 children in Canada, all baptized at St. Joseph's church in Nash Creek, Restigouche Co., New Brunswick, Canada. When the family emigrated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1883, the family name was changed to "Bishop". Their children born in Canada were:
      1. Mary Jane Bujold (Genevieve Bishop) born 27 Sep 1874. Married 24 May 1892 in Tomahawk, WI to George Watson Sykes. She died 1 Aug 1933 in Vancouver, WA.
      2. Alice Catherine Bujold (Alice Bishop) born 26 Aug 1876 and was married possibly to a Fuller and then 2nd to Samuel M. Iles in Clark Co., WA on 12 Jul 1915 (no children). She died 28 Aug 1970 in Montebello, Los Angeles Co., CA.
      3. Charles Nelson Bujold (Nelson Bishop) born 10 Nov 1878 and married to Daisy or Mary Taylor in Pittsburg, Allegheny Co., PA.
      4. Margaret Emily Bujold (Margaret C. Bishop) born 15 Feb 1881 and married in St. Paul, Ramsey Co., MN to Alexander William Fluegel on 19 Sep 1902. They divorced. She died 20 Feb 1924 in Superior, Douglas Co., WI.

The Bujold family became Bishop in the USA and first resided in East Saginaw, Saginaw Co., Michigan, where the rest of the children were born:
      5. Walter Louis Bishop, born 1 Apr 1883 and died 29 Jul 1884
      6. Isabel Mary Bishop, born 24 Apr 1885 and married 4 Apr 1907 in Superior, Douglas Co., WI to Jacob J. Nick. She lived in Tomahawk, WI and died in at her daughter's home in Racine, WI in 1978.
      7. Charles Bishop, born and died on 25 Nov 1886
      8. William Gavern Bishop, born 1 Oct 1888 and married in Clark Co., WA on 21 Dec 1912 to Helen Lola Moon. He died in a work accident in Yacolt, Clark Co., WA on 16 May 1914.
      9. Florence Anastasia Bishop, born 16 Feb 1891 and was married on 4 Jun 1907 in Tomahawk, Lincoln Co., WI to Charles W. Marquette. They moved to Portland, OR and she was widowed by 1916. She married 2nd to Walter Ollenbeck. They divorced. She died in an automobile accident near Haws, San Bernardino Co., CA on 11 Jul 1929.

By 1892, Charles and Mary Jane (now Bishop) resided in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. They moved to Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon about 1907. Charles' health was failing and he returned to Tomahawk, WI (where daughter Isabel and her husband J.J. Nick resided) and died there on 13 Aug 1908.

We are trying to determine who the parents of Charles Edward Bujold might be. I believe that he may have come from the Gaspe Peninsula area of Quebec, right across the Bay of Chaleur from New Brunswick. There are at least 2 possibilities of families that could be his, so far:

Lazare Bujold (b. 6 Apr 1811 in Bonaventure {Gaspe area of Quebec}) and married 1 Jan 1839 in Grand Riviere to Charlotte Couture (b. 3 Dec 1819 Grand Riviere). They had a son named Charles born in Grand Riviere on 15 Aug 1845.

Jules Bujold (b. 13 Nov 1805 in Bonaventure and buried 21 Mar 1869 in Caplan) married 4 Sep 1838 in Bonaventure to Basilice Essianmbre dit Sansoucy. They had a son named Charles born 3 Aug 1842 in Bonaventure.
    • Charles Bujold and wife Mary Jane Doyle came to Michigan in 1883 along with their first 4 children, born in Jacquet River, New Brunswick. By the time Charles became a citizen, the family name was changed from Bujold to Bishop. Charles and Mary Jane may have had 2 children, born between 1883 and 1890 in Saginaw or East Saginaw, Michigan, who also died before 1900. In about 1891 or so, the family moved to Tomahawk, Wisconsin.

Mary Jane Doyle's parents, William Doyle and Anastasia Joncas, also came to America with them. Mary Jane's brother, William D. Doyle and wife Mary Degrace and family settled in Arenac Co., MI. Mary Jane's sister, Lucy Doyle and her husband George Ducett, came to Wisconsin, were in Saginaw briefly, possibly in the 1890's, and then moved to Harvey, IL.
