  I descend from the Joncas family of Grande Riviere in the Gaspe. My 3rd great grandmother was Anastasia Joncas, daughter of Alexis (Alexander?) Joncas and Charlotte Beaudin. She was born about 1825. She married 1st to Julien Poirier in Grande Riviere on 20 Sep 1844. I believe that they had at least one child, Phillip, who was born about 1845 or so. I do not know what became of Julien Poirier or where the family went after their marriage. But by Dec 1856, she had remarried to William Doyle, of Jacquet River, New Brunswick, and their oldest daughter, Mary Jane Doyle (my 2nd great grandmother) was baptised on 3 Mar 1857 at age 2 1/2 Mo. at the Roman Catholic Church at Belledune, Gloucester Co., NB. Other children of William Doyle and Anastasia Joncas who were born at Jacquet River, NB are James Rufus Doyle, William D. Doyle and Lucy Doyle. Mary Jane Doyle married Charles Bujold 30 Jun 1873 at Dalhousie, Restigouche Co., NB. William D. Doyle married Mary DeGrace in Nash Creek, Restigouche Co., NB on 17 Jul 1882. James Rufus Doyle married Angelique Lapointe on 22 May 1882 in Nash Creek and Lucy Doyle married George Doucet in Nash Creek on 9 Jul 1883. In the year 1883, Mary Jane and Charles Bujold and their children went to Michigan, as did William and Mary Doyle and Lucy and George Doucet. William Doyle and Anastasia Joncas also went to the U.S. along with their married children. Only James Rufus Doyle and his family remained behind on the family farm in Jacquet River. William Doyle died in Tomahawk, Wisconsin in Dec 1901 and we found his grave in the remains of an abandoned and forgotten old Catholic Cemetery there. Anastasia lived to be near 100 and died at her daughter Lucy Ducett's house in Chicago, Cook Co., IL on 21 Sep 1923. She was supposedly buried in Tomahawk, WI (according to her death certificate) but we have found no trace of her grave yet. Mariage: Au moment de son mariage, il est de Jacquet River, N.-B.
