Born August 12, 1948 in Medicine Hat, AB, he was the son of the late Rudy and Jackie Sauer and husband of the late Yvette (LeBlanc) Sauer. Born and raised in Medicine Hat, Gene was always proud of his Alberta roots. He moved to Halifax in 1968 to fulfil a lifelong dream of a career in the Navy. He proudly served on such ships as HMCS Iroquois, Protecteur and Provider to name a few. Gene retired after 35 years of service in 2003. The love of his life was his family, especially his three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He also loved gardening and watching NASCAR. Survived by (step)daughter, Ellesa Bujold; (step)grandchildren Scott Baker (Emily), Ashley Pottie (Michael), Dylan Baker, Lilliah, Charlotte and Walker Pottie, sisters Gladys Yacyshen, Gloria Reppnack, Grace Wingenbach (Glen), Glenda Gaetz (Jim); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, wife Yvette (LeBlanc), brothers-in-law Ted and Steve. A memorial service will be held at Cruikshank's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:00 am. He was born in Nashua, NH on Oct. 8, 1939 a son of the late Henry J. and Graciette M. (Duquette) Bujold. Before retirement, he was employed as a tool and die maker at Continental Tool & Die, H & L Metals and Centronics. Don also was a Merrimack Police Officer from 1971-1975. He is the widower of Arlene (Thiboutot) Bujold who died in 2005. Members of his family include, a son Mark Bujold and his girlfriend Regina Dwyer, of Nashua, two daughters and sons in-law, Debra Przekaza and her husband Robert of Merrimack, Donna Azzam and her husband Ibrahim of Tuscon, AZ; six grandchildren, Krystle Harrison, Christopher and Tonya LeClerc, Amanda Przekaza, Khalil and Raneem Azzam; ten great-grandchildren, Dylan, Bailey, Kristopher and Austin Harrison, Mason, Ryan, Lily, Kaden, Josiah, and Javian LeClerc.
